Dear Neighbor,
My name is Courtney Masella-O'Brien. I am a candidate for Martinez Unified School District board in your neighborhood, Trustee Area 4. I come from a family of teachers and I know that a good public education system is good for our community. I’m running for school board because I care about the success of all Martinez’s students.
Who am I?
I’m the mom of a Martinez Junior High student, a school and community volunteer leader, and an attorney who advocates for small businesses. Before law school at UC Davis, I worked as a substitute teacher, and in law school I worked in the Health, Education, and Welfare division at the CA Attorney General’s office.
As an attorney, I’ve learned that collaboration yields results. As a volunteer in the Martinez schools and our community, I’ve worked to improve program delivery while respecting budget limitations. I’ll use those skills as an advocate for Martinez students and schools. I will be a leader whose focus is on integrity, transparency, and what's best for all of Martinez’s students. My experience includes:
On the school board, I’ll find creative solutions that benefit all students while focusing on transparency and responsible fiscal management. I will advocate for additional school funding, equity, diversity, inclusion, libraries, the arts, and special education resources.
I’m proud to be endorsed by the MUSD teachers' Martinez Education Association, and I’d be honored to earn your vote.
